Stanford Women in Fluid Dynamics
SWiFD is made up predominantly of graduate female students who are interested in fluid mechanics, however anyone is invited to attend our events! Information about our officers is listed below.
Margaret Daly President mad297 .at. stanford .dot. edu Margaret is a Civil & Environmental Engineering PhD student. Her research focuses on flow through kelp forests in Baja California & Monterey. Besides doing field work, you can find her SCUBA diving, hanging out with a German Shepard, or by a campfire. Ask her about whales! Jennifer Yin Vice-President jennyin .at. stanford .dot. edu Jennifer is a PhD student in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She studied Mechanical Engineering at Queen's University for undergrad. Her research focuses on developing instrumentation to measure stratified turbulence in the field. Her hobbies include snowboarding, SCUBA diving and picnicking. Mathilde Lindhart Financial Officer lindhart .at. stanford .dot. edu Mathilde is a PhD student in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She grew up in Denmark and received an MS degree from the Technical University of Denmark. She is a physicist by training and enjoys all things ocean-related, including SCUBA diving in California's kelp forests. She is also an avid knitter. Hayoon Chung Committee Member hayoonch .at. stanford .dot. edu Hayoon is a PhD student in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She is an experimentalist who studies flow over vegetation. After finishing her BS at MIT, she is happy to have returned to California where persimmons grow. Yenchia Feng Committee Member yenchia . at. stanford .dot. edu Yenchia is a PhD student in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She grew up in Taiwan and graduated from The Cooper Union in NYC with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. She studies collective behavior of insect swarms. She enjoys reading, biking, making cold-brew coffee and day-dreams about owning a dog one day. Jenny Hamilton Committee Member jhamil. at. stanford .dot. edu Jenny is a PhD student in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She graduated with a BS from Tufts University, and she now studies how wavey flows affect coral reefs. Jenny likes to hike, rock climb, and eat ice cream. Efaine Chang Committee Member efaine . at . stanford. dot. edu Efaine is an Aeronautics & Astronautics PhD student. Her research focuses on hypersonic flows for planetary entry and laser diagnostics. She can usually be found swimming, running or trying to pet all the dogs around campus. Elisa Boles Webmaster eboles . at. stanford .dot. edu Elisa is a PhD student in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She grew up in the Bay Area and received a B.S. in Earth Science from MIT. Her research focuses on using physics and field observations to study fluxes of carbon and nutrients in coastal ocean ecosystems. In her free time, she enjoys singing opera, beekeeping, and learning to surf. |
